Employer: Kay Restaurant Ltd. (carrying on business as JL Sushi & Kitchen)

Located near Lonsdale Quay, North Vancouver, JL Sushi & Kitchen restaurant has been serving the best quality of Sushi and Japanese hot food to local residents and tourists at a reasonable price. We are looking for a full-time Cook who loves cooking and will enjoy working with our energetic team! Acts as a Cook, he/she will directly assist our main chef in the kitchen.

Work Location: 140 Lonsdale Ave, North Vancouver, BC V7M 2E8

Position Title: Cook

Terms of Employment: Full-time, Permanent

Estimated Starting Date: As Soon As Possible

Position Available: 1

Wage: $18.50 - $19.00 per hour (Depending on Working Experience)

Overtime Wage: $27.75 – 28.50 per hour (If  work hours exceed 40hours per week)

Work Hours: 30 - 40 hours per week

Benefits: 4 % Vacation Pay

Responsibility:

• Prepare and cook various Japanese cuisine such as sushi, tempura, teriyaki, udon, bento box, ramen etc in JL Sushi & Kitchen's menu;
• With ensuring a meal quality for customers, the candidate will work under pressure of meeting production schedules and timelines for customers' food orders;
• Assist the main chef to develop menus and to manage inventory of food items;
• Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances;
• Ensure that the food prep area and kitchen are cleaned and sanitized;
• Assist main chef to oversee kitchen operation is working smoothly and safely to make sure that the kitchen remains safe and hazard free;
• Assist the main chef to train & to supervise kitchen staff members.

Qualification:

• Completion of secondary school is required;
• Completion of a three-year apprenticeship program for cooks OR Completion of college or other program in cooking; OR
• 2-3 years of commercial cooking experience are required;
• Able to work under pressure as a team player in a busy kitchen atmosphere;
• Able to communicate in English.
