Responsibilities

Tasks

• Prepare and cook complete meals or individual dishes and foods.
• Plan menus and determine the size of food portions.
• Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerance.
• Estimate food requirements, maintain inventory and records of food, supplies, and equipment.
• Train staff in the preparation, cooking, and handling of food.
• Schedule and supervise kitchen helpers.
• Oversee kitchen operations and inspect the kitchen and food service areas.
• May set up, clean, and organize kitchen and work area.
• May hire and train kitchen staff in the preparation, cooking, and handling of food.
