Job Description

Title: Health Care Aid (NOC 33102) - 5 vacancy

Employer: Annie’s Place Group Care Corp.

Terms of Employment: Permanent, Full Time, Overtime, Day, Evening
Salary: $25.19 to $27.19/hr depending on experience, 40 to 50 hours per week
Benefits: Extended health benefits, dental benefits, vision benefits                                                    Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible

Education: 

  • Some secondary school education and on-the-job training, or
  • A personal support worker, nursing aide or health care aide college, or  private institutional program, or
  • A college nursing orderly program and supervised practical training.


Additional Credentials: CPR Certification & First Aid Certificate
Experience: Not required (We provide on-the-job-training)
Languages: English required, Italian an asset
Major Work Area: Group care/in-home health care services
Type of Establishment/Work Setting Experience: Group care/home care

Specific Duties:
• In-home health care: empty bed pans; bathe, dress and groom clients; administer clients’ prescribed medication, serve meals, feed or assist in feeding of clients; weigh, lift, turn, and position clients; supervise clients' exercise routines, set up and provide leisure activities for clients, accompany clients on outside recreational activities, accompany clients to doctor’s appointments and/or medical tests, and perform other duties related to client care and comfort
• Take clients' blood pressure, temperature and pulse; report or record fluid intake and output; observe or monitor clients' status and document client care on charts; administer first aid in emergency situations, administer suppositories, colonic irrigations and enemas and perform other procedures as required
• Make beds and maintain clients' homes
• Maintain inventory of supplies at main office location
• Accompany patients between care facilities

Additional Duties: Perform CPR and First Aid when necessary
Work Site Environment: Group care/home care of various people who are elderly, differently-abled or have other medical challenges.
Transportation/Travel Information: Transit accessible
Work Location Information: Various locations in the Greater Vancouver Area
Essential Skills: Problem solving, time management, communication, physical stamina, being detail-oriented, respect, patience, empathy
