Job Description

J.C. Atlantic Construction is a construction company in Nova Scotia. We provide a variety of professional construction services including small-scale remodelling, residential renovation, commercial construction, etc.

Main Job Responsibilities:

• Load and unload construction materials, and move materials to work areas
• Erect and dismantle concrete forms, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks, shoring and barricades required at construction sites
• Mix, pour and spread materials such as concrete and asphalt
• Assist tradespersons such as carpenters, bricklayers, cement finishers, roofers and glaziers in construction activities
• Level earth to fine grade specifications using rake and shovel
• Assist in demolishing buildings
• Remove rubble and other debris at construction sites
• Operate pneumatic hammers, vibrators and tampers as directed
• Clean up chemical spills and other contaminants, and remove asbestos and other hazardous materials
• Clean and maintain construction tools and equipment
• Indoor and outdoor paint
• Install and remove carpet, floor, drywalls, building frames, building exterior, deck, windows, supports, scaffoldings, ramps, wooden stair, and site guardrails etc.
• Remove, repair and build deck and fence
• Perform other activities at construction sites, as directed.

Employment requirements?

• Completion of secondary education
• Basic knowledge of construction tools, equipment, and materials
• Previous related training or experience is an asset
• Ability to take and follow instruction
• Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work in uncomfortable positions for long periods
• Capacity to work in various weather conditions (hot, cold, wet, etc.)
• Ability to work as a team as well as independently when required
• Ability to assess situations and solve problems on the spot
• Physical ability to lift materials that may weigh 50 lbs or more
• Valid driver's license

Job Details:

Wage: $17-20/hour

Job Type: Full-time (35-40 hours/week), permanent

Work location: Goodwood, NS
