Position:                     Live-in Child Caregiver

Number of Positions: 1

Work Hours:               40 hours/week

Salary:                         $20/hr

Length:                        24 months

Vacation:                    4%

Job Description:

• Supervise and care for children in employer's own residence.
• Prepare younger children for school and preparing breakfast and lunch boxes.
• Plan, prepare and serve meals for children and may perform other housekeeping duties.
• Oversee children’s activities, as instructed by parents, to balance between screen time or social media activities and schoolwork and other intellectual activities.
• Maintain a safe and healthy environment in the home.
• Supervise and assist minor children in completing schoolwork and assignments.
• Pick up children from school, when needed.
• Drive minor children to activities and errands for shopping and visiting friends.
• Instruct children in social development.
• Tend to the emotional well-being of children and support their social development.
• Provide well-rounded support program that stimulates children’s intellectual, physical, and emotional growth.
• Organize and participate in age-appropriate activities, including academic training; crafts, reading and writing sports and outings.
• Report to parents any issues of concern related to children’s behaviour or areas that need the parents’ attention.
• Assume full responsibility for children and household in absence of parents.

Education: Secondary School diploma

 Skills:

-       Previous childcare work experience.

-       Supervision skills along with experience in working with minors and teenagers.

-       Communication, patience and ability to create as a safe supportive environment for children and teenagers.

-       Creative thinking and decision-making skills.

-       Problem solving skills.
