Job Description
Founded in Shanghai, China in 2004, the Dolar Shop is a trendsetting, upscale chain restaurant that serves individual hotpot. Dolar Shop Restaurant Ltd is the very first Dolar Shop restaurant in Canada opened in November 2017, in the famous Lansdowne Center Richmond BC.
We are seeking an Executive Chef to join our team immediately. The place of work for this position is located at our business address, 5300 Number 3 Road Unit 720, Richmond, British Columbia V6X 2X9.
This is a permanent, full-time position of 40 hours/week with an hourly salary of $34.70 per hour plus potential performance-based bonus with potential overtime as the restaurant requires. The weekly schedule may vary based on the restaurant needs. We also offer extended medical insurance and 2 weeks’ vacation. We can accommodate English or Mandarin speakers in this position.
The main responsibilities for this position include:
- Planning and directing food preparation and cooking activities in accordance with menu specifications and quality standards
- Preparing and cooking food with attention to food quality, portion size and presentation standards
- Overseeing, coordinating, and scheduling the activities of kitchen staff responsible for food preparation, portioning, and serving
- Estimating and ordering ingredients and supplies required for meal preparation and working alongside the purchasing team to ensure the quality of food ingredients
- Planning menus, supervising food preparation and ensuring food quality and service standards are consistently met
- Maintaining comprehensive records of inventory, equipment repairs, sales, and food waste
- Training kitchen staff in their job responsibilities, including food preparation techniques as well as sanitation and safety protocols
- Assisting in the recruitment of food service staff and contributing to the development of policies, procedures, and budgets
You must have the following qualifications:
- Cook's trade certification or equivalent training and experience
- Completion of high school/secondary school
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a supervisory role within the food service industry
- Experience working in a restaurant with an emphasis on Asian type cuisine is preferred
- Willingness to work on a flexible schedule
