Job Summary : The Plumber Helper provides essential support to licensed plumbers and other skilled tradespeople by assisting with the installation, repair, and maintenance of plumbing and irrigation systems. Working under close supervision, the ideal candidate is attentive, able to follow verbal and written instructions accurately, and possesses the physical stamina required for labor-intensive tasks. This role includes handling materials, operating basic tools and machinery, and maintaining a clean and safe worksite.

Job Description and Duties :

• Support plumbers and other tradespeople in performing various plumbing and construction-related tasks.
• Help position and align pipes during pipeline or sprinkler system installation.
• Participate in trench digging and backfilling for pipe and sprinkler system installations, ensuring proper depth and alignment according to specifications.
• Support the installation and testing of irrigation system components, such as valves, controllers, and sprinkler heads, to ensure proper operation.
• Load and unload plumbing and sprinkler installation materials, and transport them to designated work areas.
• Set up and take down concrete forms, scaffolding, ramps, and safety barriers required at installation sites.
• Operate powered tools like pneumatic hammers, tampers, and vibrators as directed.
• Tend and supply machinery such as mixers, compressors, and pumps used during plumbing work.
• Clear job sites of rubble and debris using shovels, rakes, and wheelbarrows.
• Level ground surfaces using hand tools such as rakes and shovels to meet installation specifications.
• Help equipment operators attach specific tools to machinery, guide their movements, and support them in related tasks.
• Maintain and organize plumbing and irrigation tools and equipment, ensuring they are clean, functional, and safely stored after use.
• Assist in cleaning up minor chemical spills and disposing of hazardous materials.
• Carry out other assigned duties at the installation or construction site as directed by supervisors.

 Terms Employment : Permanent Full Time, Long Term

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week 

Wages : $23 per hour

Overtime : One and one-half times the regular wage rate as per provincial regulations

Location of Work : Various locations

Anticipated Start Date of Employment: As soon as possible

Education, Experience and Language Requirements:

•  No formal education is required. Secondary education will be an asset.
• On-the-job training will be provided. Experience is an asset
• Must be able to communicate effectively in English

Working Conditions and Physical Capabilities:

• Repetitive tasks
• Attention to detail
• Lifting up to 50 lbs
• Combination of sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching and kneeling
