Job Description

Heavy Duty Mechanic – Agricultural

Job Responsibilities:

Troubleshoot and inspect tractors, combines, headers, sprayers, grain carts, loaders and yard equipment to identify faults and wear.

Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical/CAN-bus and engine issues using OEM/laptop tools, multimeter, and pressure/flow testing equipment.

Adjust systems and repair or replace defective parts/assemblies (engines, fuel/cooling, drivelines, PTOs, brakes, steering, suspension, hydraulics, wiring/sensors).

Perform preventive maintenance: cleaning, lubrication, fluids/filters, belts/chains, bearings, tire pressures, and safety guards.

Test and verify repairs to manufacturer specifications; operate equipment for post-repair functional checks.

Set up and commission new or rebuilt equipment: attach components, route hoses/wiring, and calibrate monitors/controllers.

Service attachments and working tools; fabricate minor parts and build/replace hydraulic hoses as required.

Perform repair work on on-farm heavy trucks used for grain hauling (e.g., brakes, lights, air systems) within qualification.

Order parts, manage inventory and cores, coordinate vendor/warranty claims, and keep critical spares for seeding/harvest.

Maintain accurate work orders, repair histories, inspection and certification records.

Use hoists, jacks, stands and lifting devices safely; follow lockout/tagout and hot-work procedures; keep shop/yard work areas organized.

Provide field service during peak seasons; prioritize breakdowns and communicate clear ETAs to operations.

Assist with installation/assembly and seasonal changeovers (headers, tires/tracks, batteries) and support bin/dryer shutdown maintenance within training.

Scope note: work applies only to our farm’s equipment; no third-party/retail service.

 

Education

Secondary (high) school graduation certificate

Experience

Minimum 1 year recent, full-time hands-on maintenance and repair of agricultural/heavy equipment (tractors, combines, sprayers, grain-handling or similar) in a shop or field-service setting..

On site
Work must be completed at the physical location. There is no option to work remotely.

Terms of Employment: This is a permanent and full-time position, 44 hours of work per week

Seasonal Position: NO

Language of Work: English

Wage: $23/hour for 44 hours per week, Day, Morning, Evening

Vacation: 14 days
