Languages Required:

Education:

• Secondary (high) school graduation certificate

Experience:

• 5 years or more in hairstyling or barbering

• Managerial experience preferred

Work Location:

• On-site only (work must be completed at the physical location; no remote work option)

Work Site Environment:

• Barbershop or hairstyling salon/studio

• Noisy environment with some odours

• Non-smoking

Responsibilities:

• Advise clients on beauty care treatments and hairstyles

• Analyze hair and scalp condition for appropriate care

• Book client appointments

• Cut and trim hair according to client instructions and preferences

• Provide custom hair and scalp treatments

• Shampoo clients’ hair

• Shave and trim beards and mustaches

• Provide hair treatments such as waving, straightening, tinting, and scalp conditioning massages

• Supervise hair stylists, other staff, and apprentices/students in training (3-4 people)

• Apply bleach, tints, dyes, rinses for coloring, frosting, or streaking hair

• Clean and style wigs and hairpieces

• Cut, trim, taper, curl, wave, perm, and style hair

• Suggest hairstyles compatible with clients’ physical features and preferences

• Maintain inventory and order supplies

Specialized Skills & Techniques:

• Hair styling techniques including blow drying, braiding, iron waving/curling, permanents, extensions, twisting, locking, relaxing, spiking, pin curls, and roller setting

• Hair coloring techniques including bleaching, dyes/tints, frosting, streaking, and highlights

Work Conditions & Physical Requirements:

• Fast-paced environment with repetitive tasks

• Requires manual dexterity, attention to detail, and hand-eye coordination

• Combination of sitting, standing, and walking

• Ability to stand for extended periods
