Job Description

Maxwell Contracting and Development Ltd.

We are currently searching for one experienced Construction Carpenter.

 

Location of work:

Various locations on the GTA

 

Job Duties:

 

  • Installing foundations, walls, floors, ceilings, and roofs using materials such as wood, steel, metal, concrete, plastics, and composites of multiple materials
  • Fitting and installing window frames, doors, door frames, door hardware, interior and exterior trim using a carpenter’s level, plumb bob, and laser levels
  • Erecting scaffolding, ladders for assembling structures above ground levels
  • Studying specifications in blueprints, sketches, or building plans to prepare project layout and determine dimensions and materials required
  • Shaping or cutting materials to specified measurements, using hand tools, machines, or power saws
  • Following established safety rules and regulations and maintaining a safe and clean environment
  • Building or repairing cabinets, doors, frameworks, floors, or other wooden fixtures used in buildings, using woodworking machines, hand tools, or power tools
  • Assembling and fastening materials to make frameworks or props, using hand tools and wood screws, nails, dowel pins, or glue
  • Removing damaged or defective parts or sections of structures and repair or replace, using hand tools
  • Inspecting ceiling or floor tile, wall coverings, siding, glass, or woodwork to detect broken or damaged structures

Progressive experience in carpentry.


You will be required to train apprentices and labours.

  • Construction, Renovation, Commercial and Residential

  • Maintenance and repair

Supervision

  • 1 to 2 people

 

Equipment and machinery experience

  • Hand tools

 

Own Tools/Equipment

  • Tools, Steel-toed safety boots, Hard hat, Safety glasses/goggles

Work conditions and physical capabilities

  • Bending, crouching, kneeling, combination of sitting, standing, walking, handling heavy loads,  large workload, physically demanding, Tight deadlines

 

Work Site Environment

  • At heights, Noisy, Dusty, Outdoors

 

Skills requirements:

  • Have previous 3 years of work experience in carpentry
  • Be in good health and physically fit
  • Able to work at heights and balance on platforms, scaffolds and decks
  • Able to work alone, or as part of a team
  • Display good verbal and written communication skills when working with other employees

 

Education

  • No degree, certificate or diploma

 

Hours of Work:

From Monday to Friday 

The shift is from 7 am to 3 pm

 

Terms of employment:

Permanent Position of 40 hours per week

 

Language of work:

English

 

Salary:

From CAD$ 36.00 to CAD$ 38.00 depending on your work experience
