The Role

I am seeking a compassionate and dedicated caregiver to provide assistance with the daily living of my parents: an 83-year-old male and a 78-year-old female. The ideal candidate will have a genuine passion for helping seniors maintain a high quality of life and independence in the comfort of their own home. They will be expected to care for both parents in their home where I also live with my spouse and child. While live-in arrangements are available, it is not a mandatory requirement.

Requirements

• Have First Aid and CPR Certification
• Have a valid Driver's License (G License)
• Ability to cook Caribbean dishes such as: Cornmeal and Rice Porridge, Doubles, Roti, Curried Dishes, Pelau, Coo-Coo, Pholourie and Paime
• Previous experience as a caregiver for seniors is preferred
• Ability to communicate effectively with my parents and myself in English
• Capable of assisting both parents with mobility and other physical tasks

Job Duties

• Assist with bathing, grooming, perineal care, shampooing of hair, administering medications, making beds and emptying bedside potty
• Provide support with walking, transfers, and exercises to maintain mobility
• Accompany them to their dentist and doctor's appointments
• Cook meals 2 times per day, sometimes 2 different dishes as each parent has different food preferences and ways of it being cooked
• Washing of dishes after meals have been prepared
• ·       Light housekeeping duties, including maintaining a clean and organized living space
• Doing laundry twice per week or whenever necessary
• Running errands when necessary
• Assisting with banking from time to time
• Grocery shopping once per week or more often if required
• Unpacking and storage of grocery items
• Keeping family members informed of any changes in health or well-being
