Job Description

Brindleberry Catering & Events is seeking a full-time Chef to join our catering operations in Pickering, Ontario. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, preparing, and supervising food preparation for weddings, banquets, and special events while ensuring high standards of quality, presentation, and food safety. This is an on-site position.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Estimate amounts and costs of supplies, food items, and labour
  • Maintain records of food costs, consumption, sales, and inventory
  • Analyze operating costs and other relevant data
  • Plan menus and ensure food meets quality standards
  • Prepare and cook complete meals and specialty foods for events such as banquets and weddings
  • Prepare and cook meals or specialty foods on a regular basis
  • Create new recipes and demonstrate new cooking techniques and equipment to kitchen staff
  • Instruct cooks in preparation, cooking, garnishing, and presentation of food
  • Supervise activities of chefs, cooks, and other kitchen staff
  • Train staff in preparation, cooking, and safe handling of food
  • Requisition food and kitchen supplies and arrange for equipment purchases and repairs
  • Consult with clients regarding weddings, banquets, and specialty functions
  • Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances
  • Recruit, hire, and supervise kitchen staff including cooks and specialist chefs
  • Lead and instruct individuals as part of daily kitchen operations

  • Supervises 3 to 4 people

Job Requirements

Language:

  • English

Education:

  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate

Experience:

  • 7 months to less than 1 year

Certificates:

  • Safe Food Handling Certificate
