Job Summary

Position: Early Childhood Educator (NOC 42202)

Vacancies: 1

Wage and Benefits: $28.60-$31.25  per hour, with medical and dental package

Terms of Employment: Permanent, Full-time

Working Schedule:40 hours per week, 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM Monday to Friday, with 1 hour of unpaid lunch break

Work Setting: Daycare (with children aged 1-6)

JOB DUTIES:

Develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children;

Plan and lead developmentally appropriate activities, including storytelling, songs, creative arts, games and other learning experiences;

Provide opportunities for children to express creativity through art, dramatic play, music and physical activities;

Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural concerns and prepare written observations and progress reports;

Assess the abilities, interests and needs of children and discuss children's development with parents, guardians and other staff members;

Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers, parents and guardians;

Guide and assist children in developing proper eating, dressing and personal hygiene habits;

Maintain a safe, healthy, inclusive and supportive environment that protects the health, security and well-being of children;

Plan and organize activities for children participating in the Centre's programs, including after-school programs where applicable;

Maintain accurate records relating to children's development, attendance and program activities;

Attend staff meetings to discuss children's progress, programming and any concerns;

Guide and support Early Childhood Educator Assistants and other child-care staff, where required;

Maintain daycare equipment and ensure that activity and learning areas are safe, clean and appropriately organized; and

Ensure that programs and daily practices are carried out in accordance with applicable provincial child-care regulations and the policies and procedures of Future Stars' Learning Centre.

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

College/CEGEP in early childhood education is required

ECE Level 3 is required

Previous experience working with young children in a licensed childcare setting would be an asset

Fluent in English with strong communication skills

Excellent interpersonal skills, loving and caring

High energy and able to work under pressure

Patience when working with children

Criminal record check
