Job Duties:

• Operate straight trucks and articulated trucks to safely transport goods and materials to assigned destinations.
• Plan and adjust routes based on traffic, road conditions, delivery requirements, and other changing circumstances using GPS, computer equipment, and other navigation devices to improve efficiency and minimize fuel consumption.
• Maintain accurate records of deliveries, cargo information, fuel consumption, mileage, driving hours, and hours of service in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
• Communicate with dispatchers and central dispatch to receive delivery instructions, provide trip updates, and relay important transportation-related information.
• Conduct thorough pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of the vehicle and equipment, including tires, brakes, lights, refrigeration or cold-storage systems, and other components, to ensure safe and proper operation.
• Monitor and oversee the overall condition of the vehicle and its equipment, identifying and addressing maintenance or safety issues as required.
• Perform brake adjustments and other minor maintenance tasks to maintain the vehicle in safe operating condition.
• Carry out emergency roadside repairs and minor mechanical repairs when required to prevent delays and ensure safe vehicle operation.
• Properly secure and protect cargo using tarps, straps, and other appropriate load-protection methods, ensuring the safety and security of goods during transportation.
• Respond to customer questions, complaints, and delivery-related concerns in a courteous and timely manner.
• Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy when required to meet delivery schedules and transportation requirements.
