Job Description

Main Job Duties:

  • Welcome and accompany tourists during local sightseeing tours and excursions in Yellowknife and surrounding areas.
  • Lead and provide commentary for aurora viewing tours, explaining local attractions, Northern Lights viewing activities, and relevant local information.
  • Pick up and drop off tour guests at the airport, hotels, and designated meeting locations as required.
  • Communicate tour schedules, meeting points, safety instructions, and other important information to guests.
  • Assist guests during tours and respond to general questions and requests in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Assist with pre-tour preparations, including checking tour supplies and ensuring company vehicles and equipment are ready for scheduled tours.
  • Help organize and maintain aurora viewing facilities, tour equipment, and related supplies.
  • Coordinate with drivers and other team members to ensure tours operate safely and according to schedule.
  • Provide assistance to guests in case of unexpected situations or changes in weather, road conditions, or tour schedules.
  • Perform other related duties necessary for the smooth operation of tour activities.

 

Requirement:

  • Completion of secondary school (high school) is required.
  • Previous experience in tourism, hospitality, customer service, or a related field is an asset.
  • Training will be provided.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English with tourists from different backgrounds.
  • Friendly, responsible, reliable, and customer-service oriented.
  • Willing and able to work outdoors in cold weather conditions.
  • Able to work flexible schedules, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • A valid driver's licence is an asset, but not required.
  • Knowledge of Yellowknife and local tourism attractions is an asset.

  • Optional staff accommodation is available at $500 per month, including utilities.
